This product is required to use an Apple Cinema Display HD 30" on any of the new Macs that use Mini DisplayPort connections, because the Apple Cinema Display HD 30" uses a Dual-Link DVI port. Product also uses a USB port with the Dual-Link DVI connection when connected with the Mini DisplayPort cable. Thunderbolt ports are supported, as this port includes the DisplayPort on MacBook Pro 15” and MacBook Pro 17”. Product is new old stock from Apple, forever discontinued.
